Raoul Rodríguez Walters
Raoul Rodríguez Walters, MS, CFP®, leads the Mexico
Advisor team of professionals, specifically applying his
expertise and experience in helping citizens of other
countries living in Mexico with their financial planning
needs. He comes to this position quite naturally, having
grown up in a bicultural, bilingual household. His early
exposure to cross-cultural situations, a gift from his
American mother and Mexican father, created in him a
natural interest in expanding his global perspective and
motivating him to learn four languages: English,
Spanish, Portuguese and Arabic.
His educational and professional paths have also
prepared him well for his present focus. After earning
his undergraduate degree in Economics from the
University of Texas at Austin , in 1989, he worked
in Mexico City for the international department of the
brokerage firm of Acciones y Valores de México.
Following his marriage, he and his wife, Nancy, lived
and traveled for extended periods of time in Venezuela,
Sudan and the Republic of Georgia. During that time,
Raoul worked as a legal translator and business
consultant for organizations such as the American
Embassy, UNICEF and CARE. This rich
collection of experiences living abroad have given him a
profound appreciation and understanding of the special
needs faced by the international community living in
Mexico.
Raoul has worked as a cross-border financial planner
since 1998. Raoul has a master's degree in financial
planning from the College of Financial Planning
and is a Certified Financial Planner ( US
designation). Raoul has successfully completed the
Series 7 exam required of U.S. stockbrokers and all
exams required of stockbrokers in Mexico. He is an
active member of the Financial Planning Association,
forming part of their International Advisory Committee.
Raoul is also a member of the U.S. Delegation
negotiating International Standards for the
Financial Planning Profession. He heads the
sub-committee responsible for setting competencies.
Aside from enjoying leisure time and travel with his
wife and two children, he also takes pleasure in
reading, collecting first edition books and following
the University of Texas Longhorns sports clubs
