Patterson Partners is the first fee-only comprehensive financial planning and private wealth management firm to be established in and run from Bermuda. We are a local firm serving a predominantly locally based, although typically dual-citizen or multi-national, clientele. The principals of Patterson Partners have more than fifteen years of direct experience in cross-border financial planning and have contributed to the global body of knowledge on this technical subject.

Objectivity and Independence. Most financial advisory firms are fee-based, which means they earn both fees and commissions from the sale of products. Other firms are commission-based, which makes the firm or advisor more of a sales representative than a professional advisor. Because Patterson Partners is fee-only, our compensation comes exclusively from investment management and financial planning consulting fees. We do not sell financial products, therefore we do not receive commission for any of the recommendations we make. In addition we do not receive referral fees. We prefer to operate only on our clients' behalf without bias or conflict of interest.

Flexible and Affordable. Many wealth management firms require a minimum investment amount or minimum annual fee. Because Patterson Partners sees investment management as a financial planning tool and not a stand alone business, clients have a choice of paying us a project based fee, an hourly charge or a retainer, depending on the specific needs.

Life Planning Approach. We believe that financial planning is the strategic framework to assist clients in achieving life goals. Our approach combines what you need to know about creating and managing wealth with what you need to know about yourself to put this knowledge into effective action. This approach increases the probability of achieving a comprehensive range of goals, faster and with more depth. It also decreases the probability of making costly mistakes.

We have a global reach. We work closely with colleagues who also specialize in cross-border financial planning located in Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Australia, the United States and New Zealand. Together with our international colleagues, Patterson Partners can provide cross-border solutions to expatriates from these countries working in Bermuda, Bermudians or expatriates seeking to move to one of these countries or multinational families with assets and/or family members in these countries.
